3 Reasons Why Doing the Extra Mile Pays Off in Your Business and Your Life in General

There is an old saying, “People will forget what you say but they will always remember how you made them feel.”

If you want to be known as someone who makes people feel good, be willing to go the extra mile.

To go the extra mile means to do more than is required to accomplish a task or reach a goal.

1.  It will help you relate to people a lot better. To have this mindset of going the extra mile, we’ll be required look for ways to make other people’s lives better. For example, if you’re a business owner, you’ll find out more details about your employees or customers — things like birthdays, anniversaries, milestones achieved or goals they want to achieve. Rather than focusing on what you can get, you’ll automatically be focused on what you can give.

2. You will attract people who share similar values. If you’re a business owner, you’ll attract the right customers, the right vendors and also the right employees. If we have a giving mindset , others around us will also adopt a similar mindset. This is the law of reciprocity at play — the more we give, the more we’ll receive. We’ll be setting an example for others we interact with to do the same.

3. ou will form a positive mental attitude. We sometimes fall into the trap of looking for things that are not going well or are quick to point out something someone has not done well. By being willing to go the extra mile, we’ll be required to look for the good in people and the positive things they are doing. Best of all, this attitude will make us feel good about ourselves, which will boost our self confidence and self-esteem .

People generally only associated with those they know, like and trust. If we develop a reputation of being generous, others will want to stay connected with us. An additional benefit is we’ll be rewarded unexpectedly or when we least expect it by those who’ve felt good interacting with us
